Annemarie Henton, Michelle Franks and speaker Kim Moore

We had the pleasure of hearing from Kim Moore, Managing Director of Newmark Knight Frank Global Corporate Services and Consulting. Her presentation was both entertaining and enlightening. She explained the process of elimination through which site selectors progress as they search for future locations for the companies they represent. She noted skilled workforce availability is a hot button issue at present, as well as culture, diversity, and regulatory environment among others. Ms. Moore pointed out employers are looking for a workforce which has mastered soft skills like communication, social skills, and collaboration. Albuquerque does have some challenges such as the opioid crisis, school system, and low Net Migration (low population growth), among others. However, we have many assets! Ms. Moore, stated we need to promote our low cost of living, the multitude of direct flights into and out of our airport, our diverse culture, our business friendly environment and our extensive outdoor recreation options. Also, our Economic Development Organizations work well together and collaborate, and we have strong innovation and entrepreneurial spirit, to name a few. We had a favorite quote from her “Women rule your state! Focus some of your Economic Development efforts on attracting Women Owned Businesses!”

It was a spectacular presentation which was well received. We are enthusiastic to do our part in making our community stronger and better!
